The Northwestern Lehigh Firefighter Foundation will host its annual Firefighter Appreciation Picnic on Sunday, June 28, 2026. The event is scheduled to run from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Ontelaunee Park, located at 7344 Kings Highway in New Tripoli. The gathering serves as an annual initiative to recognize and thank local volunteer firefighters for their service across the Northwestern Lehigh region.
Volunteer firefighters and their immediate families are invited to attend the afternoon as honored guests. They will receive complimentary food and refreshments during the event. Justin Smith, chairman of the Northwestern Lehigh Firefighter Foundation, noted that the picnic provides an opportunity to thank the individuals who respond to emergency calls throughout the regional communities.
The picnic is also open to the general public, offering community members a chance to support local fire companies. The event menu includes pulled pork sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs, side dishes, ice cream, and refreshments. Attending fire companies are encouraged to bring cornhole boards to engage in friendly competition during the day.
Live entertainment will be provided by Steel Creek, a regional country and classic rock band. The musical performance is scheduled to take place under the park pavilion, contributing to the family-friendly environment. Organizers have arranged the space to encourage interaction between local residents, neighbors, and the firefighting personnel.
Food will be available for public purchase at a rate of $10 per plate, with specialized children’s meals priced at $7 for individuals aged 12 and under. All financial proceeds from the meal sales will directly benefit the mission of the Northwestern Lehigh Firefighter Foundation. These funds are utilized to assist local firefighters, support regional fire companies, and reinforce community safety initiatives.
