In response to last week’s fire at the Hampton Hotel, the Easton Main Street Initiativeis inviting the community to gather for a “Walk Up the Block” pop-up event Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. on the 400 block of Northampton Street.

Although the block has reopened to traffic and many businesses are operating as usual, business owners report that foot traffic has slowed in the wake of the fire, and the area feels unusually quiet.

Organizers say the event is intended to bring positive energy back to the block while supporting affected businesses and neighbors. Local restaurants will pop up inside neighboring shops, and the afternoon will include music, balloons, and family-friendly activities.

“This is about more than just one afternoon,” said Julie VanOsdol, manager of the Easton Main Street Initiative. “It’s about showing that Downtown Easton is resilient. Our businesses are open. Our community is strong. And we stand shoulder-to-shoulder in support of one another. Right now, the energy on the 400 block feels heavy and deserted. It’s important to create positive memories in that area and make people feel safe and comfortable up there, especially in support of the small businesses located on that block.”

Businesses open during the event include 2nd Base Vintage, Home Towne Pet Shoppe, Platinum Star Cleaning, Angels House of Design, NY Tailor, DC Dancewear, Homegrown Cafe, Love Pho, Asian Market, and Utopia, along with additional neighboring businesses.

The event is free and open to the public. Community members are encouraged to attend, shop, and dine along the 400 block and share event details on social media. Organizers say the gathering also aims to support ongoing fundraising and donation efforts for displaced residents and impacted businesses.

Downtown Easton has long been known for its vibrant small-business community. Saturday’s event seeks to restore momentum and reinforce that the heart of the city remains open and resilient.
