ArtsQuest, in partnership with Moravian University, will present the 14th annual SteelStacks High School Jazz Band Showcase, featuring 26 student bands from Pennsylvania and New Jersey, during a series of performances in February and March.
Presented by King, Spry, Herman, Freund & Faul, LLC, the showcase will take place over five events at the Musikfest Café (101 Founders Way, Bethlehem, PA 18015), highlighting the next generation of jazz musicians through live performances and adjudicated competition.
“We’re thrilled to team up with ArtsQuest again this year to present the High School Jazz Showcase,” said Matthew Tranter, deputy managing partner at KingSpry and a board member of Friends of Levitt Pavilion. “We love celebrating these remarkable students as they take the stage.”
The showcase is a music-in-education program of ArtsQuest and the Moravian University Music Department’s Jazz Studies Program. Student ensembles will perform before live audiences as well as a panel of music educators who will provide adjudication and feedback.
Preliminary rounds are scheduled for 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 22, and Sunday, March 8. Finalists will perform March 29 at 2 p.m. Tickets are available through ArtsQuest.
Broadcast partner Service Electric will record both preliminary events, allowing participating schools and families to rewatch performances at a later date.
