The West Ward Market is bringing back its annual Zucchini 500 race this summer. Sponsored by Capital Blue Cross, the free event will take place on Wednesday, July 23, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The activities are scheduled at the 10th & Pine Community Garden, located at 923 Pine Street in Easton. Participants of all ages can build their own race cars out of fresh zucchini before sending them down the track.

Car building runs from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with the official races starting at 7 p.m. There is no entry fee to participate in the building session or the races.

Designing categories for the vegetable vehicles include Most Creative, Monster Truck, Mid-Size, and Sports Car. The event is organized as part of the West Ward Market’s effort to gather community members through local vendors and seasonal produce.
