Salisbury High School senior Maddie Dilliard has been awarded Cedar Crest College’s Trailblazer Award, a four-year, full-tuition scholarship recognizing academic achievement, leadership, and community involvement.
Dilliard received the surprise announcement on March 19 during a presentation at Salisbury High School. Representatives from Cedar Crest College, including President Elizabeth M. Meade and admissions staff, joined school officials and family members for the celebration.
“I am extremely excited and very honored about this,” Dilliard said. “I am shocked!”
Dilliard plans to attend Cedar Crest College, where she will major in forensic science and minor in criminal justice. She said she is particularly interested in the college’s Expert Witness Training Center, which aligns with her career goals.
In addition to her academic success, Dilliard has been active in school and community organizations. She serves as president of the Key Club, participates in a suicide prevention awareness group, and tutors students several days a week. She has also been involved in Girl Scouts for 11 years and is working toward earning the Gold Award, the organization’s highest honor.
“Maddie Dilliard exemplifies what it means to be a Trailblazer—academically accomplished, deeply engaged, and driven to make a difference,” Meade said. “We are proud to recognize her with four years of tuition through this scholarship.”
