Easton’s Heritage Day returns on Saturday, July 11, 2026. The annual event will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the public reading of the Declaration of Independence, which took place in the city on July 8, 1776. Easton was one of only three cities, alongside Philadelphia and Trenton, to host an official public reading of the document at noon to reject the rule of the King of England.
The upcoming celebration features a full schedule of historical and cultural programming throughout downtown Easton. Dozens of historical partners and reenactors will participate to highlight the regional impact of the city on early American history. A theatrical performance will anchor the daytime events, culminating in a live reenactment of the Declaration reading at 12:00 p.m. in Centre Square.
For the weekend, the Easton Farmers’ Market will temporarily return to Centre Square, which serves as its original 1752 founding location. The market is scheduled to operate from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., though select vendors plan to remain open later into the afternoon. The broader History Row programming will run concurrently across the downtown area from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The event will transition into a live music lineup starting at 1:00 p.m. and concluding at 10:00 p.m. Recording artists Son Little and Rayland Baxter are scheduled as the main co-headliners for the performance series. The musical roster also includes the folk group The Deslondes, alongside Americana and folk performers JD Clayton, Kassi Valazza, Matthew Logan Vasquez, and regional artist Brittany Ann Tranbaugh.
Preceding the main celebration, organizers will host a Heritage Day Eve Block Party on Friday, July 10, 2026. This gathering will take place on 2nd Street directly in front of the historic 1753 Bachmann Publick House. The block party is scheduled to run from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. to open the anniversary weekend.
