The Easton Main Street Initiative has installed custom artist-designed stickers on cigarette disposal stations throughout the downtown district. The installations are the result of the organization’s inaugural Buttler Sticker Design Program. The project invited local artists and graphic designers to transform the black cylindrical disposal units, known as “Buttlers,” into works of public art.

The organization received dozens of submissions from community artists, featuring a wide range of creative styles and mediums. The submitted designs included hand-painted acrylics, watercolors, and digital illustrations. The artwork celebrates community pride, environmental stewardship, and cigarette litter awareness, with several pieces incorporating local landmarks such as the Free Bridge and Centre Square.

Nineteen local artists participated in the program, including Rachel Roseman, Josh Berk, Zara Travinski, Kate Brennan, and Jamie Sands. Additional designs were contributed by Andy Tipton, Mark T. Wilson, Joey Riley, Caprice Gillick, Kimberly Morris, Roxanne Fuentes, Nicholas Breza, and Tyler Kominski. The final group of participating artists includes Danielle Guarino, Amber Tobiassen, Julie VanOsdol, Sue Herschlag, Johnny Videira, and Thymeszup.

The functional disposal stations are positioned at various locations throughout downtown Easton. The Easton Main Street Initiative is publishing an interactive location map on its official website, eastonmainstreet.org/buttler-stickers, to help visitors locate the artwork. The sticker installations were completed as a volunteer effort, and the outdoor artwork is free for the public to view.

All cigarette butts collected through the downtown stations are recycled through TerraCycle in partnership with the Easton Ambassadors. This ongoing recycling partnership aims to keep cigarette waste out of local streets and waterways. The Easton Main Street Initiative established the program to add personality to the functional stations while encouraging responsible waste disposal within the downtown community.
